Participating Manufacturers

By participating in the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' program Brother, Canon, Cartridge World, Epson, HP and Kyocera are taking responsibility for the cartridges they produce and are helping to make this voluntary extended producer responsibility (EPR) program is one of the most successful of its kind in Australia.

Brother International Australia is a proud sponsor of the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' recycling program in addition to adopting a printing system that reduces consumable wastage. The printing system ensures users only need to replace the empty cartridge rather than the entire drum or inkjet print head.

Brother has made a commitment to sustainability, as defined in the Brother Group Global Charter.

Through its Corporate Social Responsibility programs, Brother helps society achieve sustainable development, by positively and continuously considering the environmental impact of all aspects of business operations.

Concern for the environment shall be the cornerstone of all operations. Safety and environmental impact shall be prime considerations at every stage of a product's lifecycle, from design, development, manufacturing, customer usage, and disposal, to reuse and recycling.

Canon Australia is involved in a number of unique recycling schemes that allow us to transform old products into brand new ones.

In 1990, Canon introduced the first toner recycling program of its kind in the world, with our own toner recycling plants in Europe, Japan, China and USA. Across Oceania, we support numerous recycling initiatives to promote recycling in the community, and make it easy for you or your business to recycle too.

Canon Australia is proud to be a founding partner of the 'Cartridges for Planet Ark' program. Our cartridges collected through the program are returned through Canon's global reuse and recycling program or recycled in Australia by Close the Loop.

Epson is a founding member of this promotion to recycle ink cartridges and toner cartridges. The aim of the program is to reduce some of the 5,000 tonnes of cartridge waste going to landfill each year by recycling 100% of the cartridges and their contents into other products.

Epson Australia actively strives to provide products and services in a manner that fully supports our corporate philosophy of protecting the earth's environment and cooperating with the local community. As part of Epson Australia's program of environmental awareness and consideration, it was accredited to the international standard ISO 14001 - Environmental Management Systems in May 2001.

HP is a participating manufacturer of the Retail collection component of the 'Cartridges 4 Partner Ark' program. This means that individuals, householders and small businesses who use HP cartridges can drop off their used cartridges at any retail or public ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ collection points. Larger businesses and workplaces that predominantly use HP cartridges are encouraged to contact HP directly to see if they are eligible for a HP Planet Partners collection box.

HP now operates product reuse and recycling services in 73 countries or territories. We are committed to helping our customers recycle responsibly, recovering 2.8 billion pounds of products since 1987. More than 75% of our ink cartridges and 24% of HP LaserJet toner cartridges are now manufactured with “closed loop” recycled plastic.

Kyocera’s philosophy - to ‘dispose of less, recycle more’ and reduce the impact of business waste on the environment - is embraced from the design and creation of the product, its operation with minimal waste and cost, the foam free packaging constructed from biodegradable packaging and the final disposal of product.

Kyocera Document Solutions Australia is pleased to be a partner in the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' recycling program and looks forward to continuing to work with their customers to help minimise waste and recycle more.

Cartridge World is proud to partner with Cartridges 4 Planet Ark's collection and recycling program. Our commitment to being environmentally responsible is not just about recycling but extends to providing re-use solutions for consumers and businesses. Re-filled and re-manufactured printer cartridges ensure these products are kept in circulation for longer as part of our circular economy commitment. Every cartridge recycled or reused provides the opportunity to recover and re-use valuable resources, which is a big win for our planet.
