Armidale residents will be aware that some retailers now supply fully compostable carry bags. Council asks residents to dispose of these bags in the City to Soil bin as they will quickly break down (decompose) during the composting process. Please ensure the bag is fully compostable and not 'bio-degradable' as bio-degradable bags will not break down quickly enough during composting. Bio-degradable bags should be placed in the red-lidded bin while plastic shopping bags can be recycled through the kerbside crate recycling system. Please place plastic bags in the container crate, not the paper and cardboard crate, and weigh any plastic bags down with containers or tins to ensure they do not blow away.
If you need a replacement kerbside recycling container, please contact Waste Hotline on 1300 136 322.
Place clean plastic bags and film inside 1 bag and tie off. Place bag in recycling crate under tins, bottles etc to weigh down.
