Oberon Council provides a recycling service at the Oberon Waste Depot.
The following items can be recycled free, although they need to be separated before disposal:
glass - separated into green, brown and clear
aluminium cans
white plastic bottles, eg milk
car batteries
scrap metal including cars and white goods
Drum-muster collections can also be made at the Oberon Waste Depot, although chemical drums must be triple cleaned before disposal.
Used engine oil in a drum or tin can also be taken to the Oberon Waste Depot during opening hours to be recycled for free.
Only oil from diesel or petrol engines is accepted. No cooking oils, fats, brake fluid, coolants, fuels, solvents, or paints allowed.
The oil recycling project was funded through a Transitional Assistance Grant by the Product Stewardship for Oil Programme at the Department of the Environment and Water Resources
