About
Council currently provides a free disposal service for CFL's as part of the twice-yearly Household Chemical Collection. The engineered landfills currently operated by Council under licence from the EPA are capable of handling the disposal of CFL's however should Council proceed with the construction of an AWT it may be necessary to remove CFL's from the waste stream to ensure that end use products such as compost materials meet the required Australian Standard. It is therefore recommended that a further report be provided to Council in twelve months time outlining the progress of the Alternative Waste Technology and Compost Facility at the Woy Woy Waste Management Facility and detailing a draft Compact Fluorescent Lamps recycling scheme for consideration.
