PREP Design is the company behind the Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal (PREP), an innovative software tool that helps businesses design packaging for recyclability before it reaches the market. 

 The tool simulates how packaging moves through real-world recycling systems, assessing factors such as materials, size, shape and compatibility with recycling processes. It provides immediate feedback on whether packaging is recyclable and, importantly, explains why certain designs may not be, helping businesses identify opportunities for improvement. 

PREP has been adopted as a national standard recyclability assessment methodology in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe, supporting the development of clear and consistent on-pack recycling labels. Today, more than 1,700 businesses across the packaging supply chain in Australia and New Zealand use PREP to make informed packaging decisions and improve recyclability. 

For businesses selling products in the UK and Europe, PREP also offers an integrated Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) module, helping companies calculate and report their packaging-related financial liabilities and identify opportunities to reduce costs through improved packaging design.
