Old Mobiles Help Change Lives
Author: Ryan Collins
Salvos Stores have announced a new partnership with MobileMuster. You can now recycle your old mobiles and accessories at your nearest Salvos Stores in SA, NT, WA, TAS and VIC to help raise much needed funds for The Salvation Army. Salvos Stores will receive $2 for every kilogram of mobiles and accessories collected in-store from MobileMuster.
"We are very excited to be partnering with MobileMuster as it's a great way to increase the range of goods we are able to recycle in stores while generating extra funds for The Salvation Army programs," Salvos Stores Sustainability and Waste Manager Donald Munro commented.
"The Salvation Army does great work providing meaningful support services to marginalised and disadvantaged Australians and we are very humbled to work closely with them in this great cause," said Rose Read, Recycling Manager for MobileMuster."
"Not only will people have a feel-good factor when they recycle their old mobile phone, but now they can also help The Salvation Army help others in need," added Read.
The environmental benefits of recycling all 22 million mobiles would be equal to planting 86,000 trees and taking 4,000 cars off the road.
A recent research report from MobileMuster has shown that two out of five Australians have two or more old mobiles that they don't use and over a third of these mobiles are five or more years old.
