Events & Notices

Kerbside recycling collection service is provided to all residents within the Marvel Loch and Southern Cross townsites, plus those residents/businesses on the Great Eastern Highway in Moorine Rock and Bodallin. The collection days are the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. If your recycling mobile bin has been stolen, lost or damaged beyond repair, please contact Avon Waste on 08 9641 1318. For replacement lids and wheels please contact the Shire office on 08 9049 1001. People living outside of these areas can participate in recycling by taking their recyclables to the drop-off depot situated at the Southern Cross Sports Oval off Achernar Street. Unfortunately the Good Sammy clothing bin that was situated at the recycling drop-off site was removed by the company as they could no longer service the bin. In addition people can recycle empty or old ink and toner printer cartridges; old mobile telephones, their batteries, and associated items; waste motor oil; and scrap metals - see Other Waste Services. In 2014 the Shire held it's first E-Waste Collection. A further collection was held in May 2015. Future collections will be advertised for locals to attend. For more information contact Ms Robyn Downes at the Shire Office on (08) 9049 1001 during office hours. In October 2011 the Shire commenced producing an information brochure on all the various types of recycling available within the Shire along with a calendar showing the recycling dates. It comes with a magnet that is reusable for future brochures. Residents can pick one for free at the Shire office.
